ComingSoon.net has learned that Warner Bros. Pictures will release Superman Returns two days earlier on June 28, a Wednesday. It gives the Bryan Singer-directed comic book adaptation two more days to collect box office before Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest opens on July 7.
Meanwhile, WB has also moved up animated comedy The Ant Bully a week to July 28, presumably because Paramount Pictures has pushed back Steve Oedekerk's Barnyard a week to August 4.
Also, WB will no longer release Brad Pitt's The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford on September 15 and is now looking for a date in 2007.
Did we say June 28th yesterday? How quickly things change...
Superhero Hype! has now confirmed that theaters will start screening Superman Returns at 10:00pm on Tuesday, June 27th ahead of the official June 28th release date! Oh, and this isn't just conventional theaters, it includes IMAX theaters as well.
As we mentioned yesterday, the running time is estimated at 150 minutes, or 2 1/2 hours.
