Back to Stoner Metal/Rock lol - some people say it has psychadelic tinges but I've never really thought of it like that. Wiki puts it like this:
Quote:
Stoner metal refers to bands who use low, bassy riffs and elements of heavy metal, doom metal and psychedelica. The Black Sabbath song "Sweet Leaf" is often regarded as the template for stoner metal. While not all fans are marijuana users, the tag "stoner" has stuck.

I agree with the low, bassy riffs bit - it's ultimately 'soothing' but made up of heavier elements then typical classical soothing music, hence giving it a heavier feel but not so much as to be heavy metal. So it's like a midway point because Classical and Metal music have a lot in common and Metal's foundation is Classical - so it's in between (for me) mixed with industrial to get a kind of heavy Eclectic music feel.
As for the drug or more specifically Marijuanna connection - I think that was initial symbology i.e. sure some/many of the musicians were probably on it and the some/many of the listeners but it became a sub and crossover genre of it's own and you don't have to take weed to like/make it
