MTV today announced that Kelly Rowland will be debuting the first worldwide live TV performance of her upcoming single “Gotsta Go” from her upcoming album My Story... Kelly Rowland at the MTV Asia Awards 2006, which she will host with Wang Leehom. The 2006 MAAs will be held at the Siam Paragon in Bangkok and seen by millions of MTV viewers across Asia beginning Saturday, May 6. It will air on MTV Thailand at 11pm the same day and on MTV SAM at 12am on May 7.
It was also announced today that Taiwan pop queen Jolin Tsai will perform at the MTV Asia Awards 2006. She joins a previously announced list of performers including Hoobastank, Kangta, KOЯN, Daniel Powter, Lee Ryan, Se7en, Simon Webbe, Tata Young, TERIYAKI BOYZ, Thaitanium and Vanness Wu. In addition, Chang Chen, Peter Corp, Lukkade Metinee, Marsha, Sean Roh and Twins have been added to the star studded list of celebrity presenters, joining Maggie Q, Rivermaya, Same Same, The Veronicas and Vicky Zhao.
Nominated in the Favourite Artist Taiwan category, multi platinum Mando-pop queen Jolin Tsai started her singing career after her winning an MTV singing contest in Taiwan when she was eighteen. Her girl-next-door image made her a quick favorite among local teenagers, particularly boys, earning her the nickname "Teenage Boy Killer". Her debut album Jolin 1019 sold over 400,000 copies throughout Asia, and her follow-up album Don't Stop, released in May 2000, spawned several hit singles throughout Asia and marked her rise to fame in the region. Jolin has recently launched her sixth album Castle in April which had became the top album in many Asian countries. Her greatest hits album Jolin J-top is set to be released on May 5.
One of today's hottest Asian actor Chang Chen of Taiwan, 4gotten’s vocalist Peter Corp, top models Lukkade Metinee and Marsha of Thailand, Sean Roh from Korea's best selling hip-hop act Jinusean and the lovely Canto-pop duo Twins of Hong Kong join the powerful line-up of Asian and international artists who will host, present and perform at the fifth MTV Asia Awards -- the most glittering and memorable musical event in Asia.
The MTV Asia Awards 2006 will be presenting a total of 19 awards during the show to recognise and promote the icons of youth culture. My Chemical Romance have bagged three nominations while the sensational James Blunt has been nominated in two categories. Asian stars Stefanie Sun (Singapore) and Jay Chou (Taiwan) have been nominated for the 5th consecutive year while Wang Leehom (Taiwan), Tata Young (Thailand), Asha Bhosle (India), Too Phat (Malaysia) are the local hot favorites.
