Snoop not performing in South Africa 2day as he is detained in london
AMERICAN HIP HOP ICON SNOOP DOGG WILL NOT BE PERFORMING AT THE JHB LEG OF THE PEOPLES CELEBRATION CONCERT.
Following an incident at Londonעs Heathrow Airport last night, Snoop Dogg and five of his bodyguards were detained pending a court appearance scheduled for today. The US star was detained by police when a row broke out after his 30-strong entourage were told they would not be able to board their flight after they were initially refused entry to the British Airways first-class lounge at the airport's Terminal One.
Snoop's party is to then said to have moved to a duty-free shop where it is alleged they threw bottles of whisky on the floor and argued with staff. Police were subsequently called and were escorting the group away from the scene when a further disturbance broke out, Scotland Yard said. Seven officers received minor injuries - mainly cuts and bruises - while one suffered a fracture to the hand.
South African government officials tried in vain until 3am this morning to assist with their release, however; charged with an offence, the star and his crew must remain in custody until their court appearance later this morning.
Snoop was due to perform this evening as part of the Peoples Celebration Concert, but may only arrive in time for the Durban and Cape Town legs of the tour if all goes well.
The Peopleעs Celebration Concert will however continue in Johannesburg this evening with performances by dancehall superstar Sean Paul, music phenomenon Pharrell Williams, singing sensation Mario, and a host of local favourites, including Zola, Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP), Jamali, Freshlyground, Loyiso and Morafe, all of which will still be performing at tonightעs celebration.
Ticket holders for todayעs show, who bought their tickets especially to see Snoop, and will be attending the concert, will be offered a 25% refund on presentation of their ticket stub, and those who choose not to attend, will be offered a full refund on presentation of their full ticket, at Computicket outlets across Gauteng. Should circumstances be such that Snoop is unable to attend the Durban and Cape Town shows צ a similar arrangement will apply.
