"We wronged Adele and we will make amends this year"

We wronged Adele and will make amends this year David Joseph says singer's speech should never have been cut and hints of planned surprise during his last ceremony at helm
When Adele gave her spine-tingling performance of her ballad Someone Like You at the Brits in 2011 a small miracle happened – the boisterous music industry for once fell silent, and listened. Last year the singer again provided the most talked about moment of the evening by giving a frustrated one-fingered gesture to presenter James Corden after he cut off her acceptance speech for best album. But at the Brits on Wednesday, the singer, who has dominated the UK and US charts since 2011 despite releasing only the single Skyfall last year, may finally get her moment to thank her fans.
In an interview with the Guardian ahead of the awards, Universal UK CEO and current Brits chairman David Joseph said there would be no repeat of the speech-cutting controversy.
"How can you take an artist who has made the biggest cultural impact musically this country has seen globally for some time and cut her off in the middle of her speech?" he said. "I very much to this day question what was happening in that control booth. I can hint that something is going to happen this year to rewrite that wrong."
Joseph added that he had told ITV they should run into a commercial break if a similar situation arose this year. "I think Adele was totally justified expressing how she felt. It was a very big moment for her, but I'd stay tuned to this year's show to see if there is any form of squaring of that circle."
This year's Brits will also be a celebration of a year that saw four of the five bestselling albums in the US come from British artists, and will feature an international global success award for the first time, he said. "It's amazing what is happening with British music overseas. We are thrilled about it, four of the top five is exceptional. It shows good taste," he said. "When as an industry you realise you have four of the five top-selling acts in America, the only thing you want to do next is have five of the five."
She is in US though, so I can only think of a pre-recorded "Thank You" for some nonsense. Is she even nominated?
Nominations
British single : Skyfall
Global Success Award (up against Mumford and Sons and One Direction)
It's probably something stupid like a live link from the US giving Adele a chance to thank her fans. Hopefully this increases her chances of winning the Global Success Award
I hope they do not let her up there again because...
It was funny that she got mad that they cut her off but sticking up the figner and making a huge deal about ti was unnecessary. If this was any other singer people would be like "OMG SHE'S SO RATHET/GHETTO/CLASSLESS/"A MESS" ". It was really uncalled for tbh
I love Adele for the fact she kicked off about it, she's such a real, honest person and deserved to have her moment so I'm glad they're trying to rectify it
But tbh, that whole thing was so stupid of the BRIT's cutting her off. I cannot fathom what they were thinking, not letting her have 20 more seconds of her speech simply so they could cut her off to play a mind-numbingly boring performance by Blur.
If I had been James Corden, I would have just refused to cut her off. Anyway, I don't understand why they keep having James Corden back as host. He isn't even very popular in the UK, most people think he's a bit of a d*ck.

Or maybe people would see it as the joke it was. It's not like she did it out of spite
