Christina Aguilera is somewhat wound up in quite a distinctive circumstance. Her last two records have been commercial failures in comparaison to previous efforts, yet she has sustained herself as a relevant part of popular culture. No matter how irrelevant any new projects may be to people, society are still (
at first) engaged in what she has to offer from her career. For that to be the case, it alone clarifies that her past work over the years has solidified her place in the industry. She reminds me of Madonna to some extent, but obviously on a far lesser-scale. Instead of musically fading out 25 years after her debut, she dissolved in 12 years instead. Will she ever be considered a legend? Probably not. That being said, she's an icon. She is "the voice" and people will remember her for that exactly. Christina cannot be forgotten at this point. Like I said, she has claimed her spot and I really can't see anyone taking that away from her for a very long time.
