I'm curious as to what ATRL thinks various artists have done that's had impact or influence. Before you comment, make sure you read the definitions for impact and influence. And remember, I'm talking MUSIC here. I can look up chart statistics anytime I damn we'll please and I don't care about fashion or hair.
Now up, Beyonce

On music... I'm kind of hard pressed to come up with anything. I mean, she gets lots of hits, but I never got the sense that she was changing anything. I'm not shading her, because I'd say the same about a lot of my faves, but... you know. Just being honest.
I am neither trolling nor flame-baiting when I say little to none. Her pop culture impact isn't great because she hasn't really had any iconic moments and her musical impact is little because none of her work is revolutionary or different from the sound of its time. Plenty of people make rip-offs of her songs but it's not because she popularized any certain production style or anything. It's because they are catchy pop chunes that are safe to record and release.
She's no style icon either. Of course people copy how she dresses sometimes because she is a huge star and that is what fans do: emulate their favorite stars. She has no distinct fashion style that is easily recognizable as 'Rihanna'.
Musical legend.
Best selling digital artist of the US ever.
12 #1 hits on billboard
Fashion icon A-class actress
She is truly the biggest and most global popstar of our time.
And we're all lucky to watch her slay the music world.
fff the delusion
I think Rihanna has some influence on music.
For example I felt after We Found Love I hear a lot more dancesongs with purely instrumental parts on the radio.I could be wrong though.Maybe her biggest impact is being known by everyone
Her music has popularized rhythmic, monosyllabic hooks in pop, and "We Found Love" spawned a LOT of imitators ("Call My Name", "Let Me Love You", "Young", "Let It Go", "Finally Found You" etc etc) and helped bring EDM to the mainstream in the US. I don't think a song like "Don't You Worry Child" would have smashed in America without "We Found Love" coming first. It's also directly responsible for Calvin Harris getting hits in the US.
She also helped bring back pop as a dominant genre by being one of the few artists who was making dance-pop in the mid noughites and still received widespread airplay in the states.

She hasn't changed or influenced anything tbh.
Certain things people associate with her and she is known for a certain type of look. I don't know what people think of when they think of Rihanna but its usually a very grungy, sexy style.
Oh and her impact is impacting the radio and getting everyone to know her songs. She breaks records all the time so idk. Only huge music followers even care about supposed "impact" and that is really ignorant tbh. Its like saying because they're favorite paper/magazine says "Rita Ora created the earth and cures cancer" then that is supposedly her impact instead of someones opinion.

Are you talking about things like "Umbrella ella ella"? Could you give an example?
She helped usher in the dance trend before it exploded with songs like Pon de Replay, SOS, Don't Stop the Music, Disturbia. She helped the transition from R&B domination to pop.
She was never really a pioneer for any music genre though, but she has had some impact.
I would say she rides the small trends right before they become really popular and helps them to explode.

This could be applied to ALL successful popstars though, not just Rihanna.
And please don't start about this 'iconic moments' business. These iconic moments you speak of are only appreciated by pop culture fanatics, to the GP they are nothing. Rihanna's umbrella and red hair are more iconic/recognizable than anything Beyonce has done IMO, except perhaps Single Ladies which is on the same level.
