Beyoncé promises to "raise the bar" with high-energy SB show
Quote:
Since September, Jones has been feverishly choreographing Beyoncé Knowles-Carter's halftime show for the Super Bowl, which will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La.
"She's great!" Knowles-Carter boasted of Jones, during a phone interview with the Middletown Transcript on Sunday evening. "And besides her having a great attitude and being easy to work with, she's an amazing choreographer and dancer."
Jones is still reeling with joy about teaming up with Knowles-Carter, her longtime friend.
"She's so much fun to work with," beamed Jones, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. "At the same time she's full of energy, a hard-worker and has a no-nonsense approach when it comes to taking on any project."
Jones, who's proficient in various dance styles spanning hip-hop to ballet, last worked with Knowles-Carter on her comeback show at the Revel in Atlantic City in May. It was the superstar's first concert since birthing her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, in January of 2012.
Being that Knowles-Carter was very "happy" with Jones' work for the Revel, last August the superstar "called and asked me to work on her team of choreographers for the Super Bowl," Jones explained.
'RAISING THE BAR'
Unlike Flacco, this isn't Jones' first rodeo. Her first was last year when she helped choreograph Madonna's dazzling halftime concert in Super Bowl XLVI, which featured choreography that was mostly etched in hip-hop dance elements.
While Jones is keeping mum on the precise style(s) of dance we'll see from Knowles-Carter on Sunday, she did mention her inspiration behind the choreography stemmed from studying "a lot of Super Bowl halftime shows, as well as many performances Beyoncé has done in the past." She added, "We reviewed a lot of her footage from prior performances to see what, if anything, we can use and make better if necessary."
Knowles-Carter — who was very down-to-earth and sincere during the interview— also wouldn't unveil much about the choreography, except to say the overall concert will be "high-energy" and "I'm going to give that same powerful performance that I always give my audiences all the time."
The superstar also unhesitatingly declared she and her team will certainly be "raising the bar."
