I think it's too often that I find a person who is really talented at something but are complete assholes or bitches to people and it keeps them from being successful.

Let's take for example Christina Aguilera. P!nk didn't like her, nor did Avril Lavigne and Mary J. Blige. Is it possible that her bitchy attitude caught up to her after she released Bionic and Lotus?

Another example would be Christopher Maloney from The X Factor. He's a good singer, and at first most of the UK saw him as an innocent dude, but almost everyone that worked with him said he was a two-faced diva and there was proof on video of him being an asshole to people. His personality got him axed that it seems.

Nicki Minaj's personality is my third and final example. She's not a bitch, but her personality definitely seems a bit immature and most people are turned off by her because they think she is annoying, which has already affected her music career.

But can a bad personality really affect a good singer's career? Or can they get away with it?

Christina's ego (the one many people didn't like her for) didn't fit with her music. Just look at some of her interviews describing her work and talent.

Yes but in a more rumour/opinion based way. If people don't like you it's hard to like your music (or what they think you're like, it's not the same as who you really ARE) because all they see is what they think of you when the song enters their head. It's easier to like a person w/o any kind of personality (Beyonce, Leona Lewis) than it is to ignore a person's obvious personality (Adele, Alexandra Burke, Xtina, Nicki Minaj).

This is true. Money where the mouth is, that's often the issue. If you've got banging albums you're fine. It's like saying something but there's not any musical substance.

P!nk started it because she had an issue with one of Christina's producers and was upset that Linda Perry gave Beautiful to Christina instead of her. But Christina didn't do anything to P!nk.

Mary J was mentally screwed at the time from her drug use and misinterpreted something in their initial meeting. But If you followed Mary you'd know she fought with tons of people too, so if this theory was true, Mary J's career would be in trouble. But she's made up with Christina and has referred to her as a friend and even asked her to perform at her charity benefit

She's probably very nice, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did do it. She controls her career tightly to present a perfect image. However, Kanye (bar Kanyegate) never did anything outrageous. That's all he's known for badly. He just sticks to the music mostly. People don't see him enough (UK wise) to have a bad image of him in that way.

Oh. And it can kill a career before it starts (Samantha Mumba is an example and maybe Azealia unless she shuts UP).

I wish this was true but it aint. He did a couple of outrageous things before that....like stating "George Bush Doesnt Care About Black People" during a telethon for one.

I don't know if it could destroy someone's whole career, there would probably have to be other factors like bad music/bad performances. plus there will always be people who stan for someone regardless of their personality, as well as people who only care about the music and will support an artist as long as they like the music.

but personally, I can say that I at least can't stan for artists who have 'bad' personalities, i.e. are greedy/selfish/unhumble/arrogant.

I dont like Kanye or Christina because of their personalities. No matter how good their music is, I would NEVER buy iy because I think they are snobs. Same goes for Azealia Banks, I use to like her but she is so immature and petty. and her age has nothing to do with it. Her album could be the hottest thing to come out in the past 5 years and I still wouldnt spend my money on it cause her attitude stank.
