If Nicki Minaj was worried about how she would come across on American Idol, she has nothing to worry about as critics of the show appear to love her.
As the new series got underway, Digital Spy reported a critic from USA Today singing Nicki's praises after seeing her take her seat on the panel and judging the talent that came through the doors.
Believing that Nicki, whose bickering with Mariah has yet to subside, will "be the most polarising part of the show's 12th season", the critic went on to state that whilst viewers may dislike the 'Pound The Alarm' singer at first, "Minaj has the potential to be the best judge Idol has seen since about two years before Simon Cowell jumped ship."
Paying attention to Nicki's comments to the hopefuls, calling them "pleasant", a critic from the Wall Street Journal said: "The pleasant surprise was Nicki Minaj, whose comments were compassionate, thoughtful and insightful throughout."

Branding Nicki as "funny", The Hollywood Reporter's American Idol critic commented: "Minaj showcases her colourful flair -- she’s funny, unfiltered, and clearly on the hunt for more than just a passable vocalist."
However, despite the critical acclaim, viewers watched on as Nicki allegedly refused to send a hopeful through to the next round because she was wearing the same eye shadow as her.
Commenting on the hopeful's performance: "I thought your voice is pretty, you are pretty, but nothing jumped at me. We have seen such magnetic things today and I don't think you compared to what we have seen today.
"I do not think you feel like a star. You are not giving me that thing. I do not feel it."
Whilst Nicki's critique sounded fair enough, Nicki went onto tell the act that she hadn't got through because of their "rivalry". Nicki said: "We are wearing the same colour eyeshadow today. We have a rivalry and that's why I said no."
Disappointed with Nicki's reasoning, Mariah said: "This is what I deal with, this is what I deal with when I come into my job."
