Youth Lagoon announced the first single off his sophomore album, Wondrous Bughouse. The song, titled “Dropla”, can be heard on Soundcloud.
Trevor Powers, whose uses the stage name Youth Lagoon, came onto the music scene in 2012, with his debut album, The Year of Hibernation. The album was based around the idea of psychological dysphoria.
Powers says this album spawned from what he describes as becoming more “fascinated by the human psyche and where the spiritual world meets the physical world.” Powers describes the writing process of his first album as a way for his mind to communicate with his body, not the other way around. It seems the same can be said for his latest album.
Youth Lagoon’s Wondrous Bughouse is due out March 5. On tour now, Powers will be at A Club in Spokane, WA on Feb. 25. For a full schedule, visit the label’s page.

The Year of Hibernation was my second favorite album of 2011 so I'm anticipating the follow up but I can't say I love "Dropla." Sounds like a grower maybe.
Yes. Not like friends or anything but I replaced him on keyboards for a previous band he was filling in for so I talked with him a couple of times.
Always wondered what happened to him. I thought he just went off to college because he used to be really popular in the music "scene" around these parts. Then someone on ATRL got me into Youth Lagoon, and when I read his bio I realized it was ****ing Trevor Powers.
I loooove me some dream pop, so I'll give it a chance.
after listening to the album it's actually way more psychedelic/experimental than it is dream pop. it's better than his first album but the sounds are pretty different.
Through Mind And Back 8/10
Mute 10/10
Attic Doctor 7/10
The Bath 8/10
Pelican Man 7/10
Dropla 10/10 (It's grown on me a lot)
Sleep Paralysis 7/10
Third Dystopia 8/10
Raspberry Cane 9/10
Daisyphobia 8/10
8.2 Overall. I really like the album but it's not better than TYOH.
He's getting a positive reception all across the blogs, twitter, and tumblr so I'm happy. I think this album is a grower though if you're familiar with his first record. YoH was very dream pop and emotional while with WBH he's much more confident, mature, and experimental.
The Animal Collective comparisons were inevitable but I haven't seen people hate the record because of it.
