I just found out at my dentist office that I have 4 cavities and they were saying all this crap about how I don't take care of my teeth when I actually do. My insurance only covers the amalgam fillings, I already have a few but all the mercury and health warnings always scare me.
My insurance only covers silver. Mine are in the back teeth, though, so nobody notices. Additionally, you're probably in the same boat as me -- I brush twice a day, every day, but my diet is absolute ****. I eat really acidic foods, and it wears at my teeth. Nothing you can do about it.
I'm guessing you're from the US? I'm from the UK and I went to my dentist December 2011 and he said I hadn't been for 2 and a half years. I was like, mate. I come every 6 months, don't give me that ****. Then he did the uncomfortable mouth x ray thing on me and said I had 4 cavities inside 4 of my teeth. All 4 of my 1st molars in every corner of my mouth. Sounds suspicious to me tbh. I nearly cried. I knelt on the ****ing floor and reconsidered my life. I didn't believe him because looking at my teeth from the outside, they were flawless and so yeah, had to have 2 separate appointments to have 2 fillings done each time. Omfg never again. when that drill goes just that bit too deep and you get that feeling like your hand running across felt. HEEUURRGH. I have silver ones but they didn't cost me anything (I don't think) 'cause I think we have free dentist health care till we're 18 or something and I'm 17 now. I think I genuinely have something wrong with my teeth though because I take care of them so well. -___-
Yess I have silver fillings in my back teeth. But when I get a good job I hope I can replace them with white ones. But I hardly get cavalties anyways maybe 1 or 2 each year.

LMAO. DEATH.
But I feel you sis. I brush like twice or thrice a day and am careful with my diet still my teeth is sensitive as fudge so I have 2 silver fillings and like 17 white ones. I think getting the silver is recommended if it was the back teeth that needs to be repaired because it's sturdier and lasts for like a lifetime. The white ones usually get chipped off after a certain time.
