She doesn't say ONE bad word about lady gaga. She in fact doesn't even call lady gaga reductive, she even says she can't be against gaga being inspired by her because she's she, and "I'm me". (hence: "she's not me" part on her MDNA tour) She continuous to go on compliment lady gaga, and no one ever mentions that. Why? Because ABC never aired it on tv.

The ABC crew edited it to make it sound like Madonna literally only said "lady gaga is reductive", but nowhere in this clip she actually says that. In fact, she's more complimentary than anything. Maybe she talks about "reductive" as a way of describing the song born this way, yes. But she could also mean that she finds the media putting them against each other.. "reductive". As in the media being simple and not intelligent.

Just wanted to make this clear to everyone. The interview they aired on tv was edited.

Also note cynthia mcfadden laugh and say "good answer!!!!", as if she knew they could use that for the headlines. ANd of course probably so did Madonna, but I really doubt she expected ABC to completely CUT OUT the compliments she gave lady gaga when they aired the interview. Only later on their website, they uploaded the (more or less?) full (and hopefully uncut) interview. But what we saw on tv at the time, obviously was some very shady manipulated editing.

I know that some people already saw this, but I think a lot of monsters have no clue and just went with what the newspapers and other fans said or what they saw on tv at the time, and I hope that by posting this, it may open the eyes of some misinformed fans.

Um, I think she very clearly said BTW was reductive specifically. But the rest of the interview doesn't really portray Gaga in a negative light at all.

Um.. please don't try to defend Madonna's actions, putting this aside she has attacked Gaga SEVERAL times on tour and outside of touring.
Considering she's the #1 female in the history of music, you'd expect some dignity and respect to new artists, especially that of Gaga's caliber but Madonna has acted nothing more than a bitter bitch.

I actually agree with you. She's not as bitch as the media shows her, she's actually a calculating cold blood woman, I don't believe she's an open mind bitch that says whatever she wants. Everything that she does has a meaning behind, that's why she's so successful. You can tell she planned everything she did to Gaga, way after the era start.

She answered the question about whether or not she feels gaga is copying her, and she responds in a manner that shows she actually feels flattered (in fact she literally said it's flattering..) What is she supposed to say? Kiss her ass and talk about her amazing performance skills? she wasn't asked that, so why should she? She answered in a diplomatic and very friendly manner. Reductive is another tongue in cheek Madonna comment, obviously a joke as you see her & the interviewer laughing. (the interviewer even said "hahahaha good answer")

Again, I really fail to see how people can see shade in this.

And even if Madonna isn't really found of gaga, then so what? Prince also wasn't too found of Michael jackson, for example. it's no big deal. but shady it's not.
