Not at all actually. That description is confusing.

Podcasts are normally free and short radio shows, designed for you to download and listen to on your computer or iPod -- the word comes from combining iPod and broadcast. Some podcasts have video too, so it's like a TV show.

For example, some of the most popular podcasts available right now are:

- Grey's Anatomy

Most podcasts aren't broadcasted anywhere else, they're exclusively available for download -- but as you can see, others are official downloadable versions of existing radio or TV shows.

You can listen to or skip any part of the show whenever you want -- but just so you know, most podcasts don't include music. It's mainly just talking. That's why they're free.
