they may be exponentially popular in the UK but they are known in various other countries and WTSMG has sold over 22 million copies worldwide. This "they are only famous in the UK" business is old, tired, and not true.

I was very glad that Adele's 21 outsold Oasis' Morning Glory in the UK - as it showed Noel he was wrong to call Adele a fad who would fade away. Now hopefully they will be more humble and accept there are other great artists out there who may surpass them....but I wouldn't put any money on it.

just because it surpassed WTS in the amount sold, doesnt mean its a larger record in terms of cultural relevance. WTS was successful during a large shift in British popular music akin to Nirvanas Neverminds, and was detrimental to the 'Britpop' genre that defined British radio in the mid 90s.
