Skyfall has now officially broke the magical Billion dollar mark with a still rising
$1,000,200,000. It had already smashed the previous Bond record(Casino Royale with $596 mill) weeks back. But this takes Bond into the major league of blockbusters and is only the 14th film ever to break one Billion dollars at the box office.
Currently the 14th biggest film of ALL TIME it should easily move up into the top 10 once it's released in China in january 2013. It's also the 3rd biggest film of 2012 worldwide behind The Dark knight rises($1.081 bill) and The Avengers($1.511 bill). Although it's the 4th biggest film of the year in the US with $289 mill, its real strength has been globally, especially in Europe. In the UK it has now stormed past Avatar to become the biggest film of
all time with an astonishing $158 mill. In France and Germany it is the biggest film of 2012.
Daniel Craigs trio of Bond movies have the 3 highest box office takings of the entire 007 franchise, not taking inflation into account.
Congrats to all involved, including Adele who definitely played a part. I guess the real problem now will be to try to match the success next time. Daniel is signed on for 2 more Bond films at least.
