Anecdotal evidence from Twitter suggests there were a lot of new iPads under the Christmas tree. According to a graphic spotted by Andy Baio, the number of people proclaiming this is my "First tweet from my iPad" eclipses those tweeting for the first time from their Kindle Fire, Nexus 7 or Surface tablet... The iPad was the gift to give and receive this holiday season.
That also might be because of how popular the iPad is...
Not many people are gonna tweet "FIRST TWEET FROM MY MICROSOFT SURFACE!" because it's not that relevant culturally. Doesn't mean it won't be eventually though

Yeah. Surface is for productivity, educational purposes. You actually do real tasks in there aside from the regular gaming and such.
I hate widgets and tiles. I like simplicity and minimalism and Apple does that best.
Regardless. I have WinOffice in my iPad via an app called CloudOn which syncs my Windows doc over the cloud. I don't care for coistomization even when I had an Android. I want something that works.
