no valid sources anywhere, seems like sites are just reporting it based off rumour/speculation. one site i found claims this song has sold 3 million copies but doesn't state where

Sorry, but I think they're right. The LA Times is just regurgitating "facts" from Indian news sites. I see no real certifications.
