the album for an non spanish speaker is full of fillers... when you have slow sons at least you try to find some good lyrics then if you aren't that into english and you write slow "deep" lyrics which aren't you have a filler...
Shakira should understand what is her market and where is not

Her cd was a hit for me. People just don't understand how good it is. I love her new album. It makes sense to have slower deeper songs, because and then we who don't usually understand her, understand her. People just don't give her a chance. That's all. It's not a filler. I've seen worse cds with fillers. And yes there isn't much fast paced songs, but it's still good.

Anyways flop or not, Shakira gave us two of the best pop albums of the year. And I guess that's all that matters right? The music? Oh no wait, you just care about sales. My BAD!

@Kremlin Dusk: agreed 100% . It seems like all people care about today is sales and not the quality of music or how hard the artist worked on the album.
And people are so fast to call this album a flop without even considering multiple variables.

i liked her spanish style

All I want to say about this is that when I heard Shakira for the first time I loved her. I saw her in MTV singing MTV Umplugged...I didn't even know how to say h"i" in Spanish, yet I lover her because I felt her songs so close and she has a UNIQUE style. I bought for the first time in my life AN ALBUM. I didn't have any albums back then...She was the first one and without even understanding her...then I saw her Whenever, Wherever video for the first time and LOVED her even more. Laundry Service was the second Album I evern bought...before I saw Shakira I didn't like music. I thought the market was full of "Britney Spears and Madonnas and crap=cheap, and not original"..then I started to love music. Now I am a "musicfan"..I listen to any type of music in any language..I lrealized that the world is not full of those cheap singers...


To mark: like they say, you just care about sales...that's a problem. You don't want to like her latest album becasue you know it's good and DB was not the right choice as a first single...you are afraid that Shakira in ten years or so becomes the most respected pop starts out there even thou she shakes her ass, boobies...but you know what...she does it with style...she makes her music with style...with a uniqueness style and original...so when you start caring about music and not sales, you will understand the true meaning of a unique star.

btw, I see you like Brit, Madonna, and the rest...to the real madonna and britnet fans who don't just care about sales, I don't want to insult you, but this kid here, is just a sucker.

Shakira's "Fijacion Oral Vol. 1" and "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" are both excellent albums. Those who say otherwise can't recognize good music.

If "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" does flop it is not because of it having "filler songs", that is a joke, as every song is either great or very good. Shakira does not make filler songs. This new album is a deep album and experimental album, with sometimes very controversial topics (like in "How Do You Do" or "Timor") and very different styles throughout the album. The lyrics are are well thought out, the music is well written, and the songs are excellently produced.

The album may not be a hugely mainstream or commercial album full of songs like "My Humps" or "Hollaback Girl" that just aim at getting radio hits, but the songs are excellent.

Just because the album isn't a complete commercial success doesn't mean the album is bad. I say give the album some time. Maybe it will start picking up in sales after the next single (I'm hoping for it to be "Illegal").

Regardless of sales or chart positions "Oral Fixation Vol. 2" is an excellent album. I'm glad I bought it.
