Gary Barlow has spoken out about his darkest days when he tipped the scales at nearly 17st.
The singer's weight started to creep up after his solo career flopped and he parted from record label BMG in March 2000.
Gary, 41, didn't leave his house for four months and retreated into himself.
'When I look back now, it was just such a messy period,' he says.
'It was bad news after bad news really, when you've been so successful, once you start going downhill, it's a snowball effect and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon.'
The X Factor judge is now looking hot and is very careful about what he eats these days.
'I've just got one of those metabolisms where a plate of chips goes past and I put on two pounds,' he tells the Telegraph magazine.
'Having been nearly 17st it's horrible, it's absolute darkness, and I never, ever want to go back there again.'
