No I live in NYC. I never needed a car. Public transportation is cheap and very convenient.

I just hope there isn't 4 feet of snow on the ground then I passed the written the first time (100% ) but I failed the road test the first time because I bumped into a car when I was parallel parking. And every time before that, my parallel parking had been flawless

I had driving lessons for about 5 months and also took the mandatory driving theory classes. I passed both the theoretical and practical exam on the first try.

Yup, I got mine two months before I turned 18. I really haven't driven much since I was 18 though.

I do have to point out that driving in America and driving in Europe are too completely different things.
In europe 90% of the cars are stick-shift cars so it takes longer to learn how to drive there
In America almost all the cars are automatic transmission so it's easyer.

Perhaps that's why we have to be 18 to drive and in American you have to be 16
