I think her, along with Nelly Furtado, Britney and Justin all were the ones who made dance/pop turn into a big phenomenem. Dignity is a flawless album, one of my favourite albums of all time and it influenced so many other famous works as well that it's sad that it's often ignored.

That album is nearly FLAWLESS. My only issue is her vocals. She's not awful, but I just wish she had stronger vocals. I think she's a good songwriter though. She should definitely start writin for others. Maybe become a Kara Dioguardi of sorts?

Well I'm not a firm believer in someone having to have a hit to influence something. Just because it didn't influence a trend with the GP doesn't mean other pop girls didn't jam to it and say "hey, I wanna do a song like this!" I mean, yeah, maybe that didn't happen with Hilary either, but you get my point.
