A California filmmaker and six others said to be behind the anti-Islam film Innocence Of Muslims , have been sentenced to death in absentia by an Egyptian court. “The seven accused persons were convicted of insulting the Islamic religion through participating in producing and offering a movie that insults Islam and its prophet,” Egyptian Judge Saif al-Nasr Soliman said today, according to broadcast and wire service reports. The film, which ridiculed the Prophet Muhammad, sparked rioting, violence and deaths in 30 countries in the Mideast, Europe and Asia since it was released in September.
You can't kill someone because you don't like how they describe/think of you in a film. Learn what equal rights and freedom of speech is even tho the directior is dumb as ****.
I'm almost sure they mock Americans and have probably made 1 or 2 films about us in a bad way - have we threatened to kill them?
It should be noted they can't actually carry out this sentence unless for some reason those people travel to Egypt.
Also interesting, but sad, that Egypt has indeed turned into what seems like an extremely religious, conservative state following the revolution there. Shows that when you take out a dictator things don't necessarily get better or any real change occurs.
Why do people always resort to violence? Isn't Islam suppose to e about peace yet someone says something bad about them and they riot. They've probably said or thought things much worse about other religions/groups of people.
Inb4 the certain middle eastern members start bitching about how we're all wrong because we're Western and know nothing
Well, I'm not Middle Eastern but
Anyway, I don't know much about this case but I have heard about the film. My question is: why is an American being charged in an Egyptian court anyway?
