More X Factor fans tweet about pop legend Gary Barlow than any other judge on the ITV show. But the number of Twitter mentions for fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos exploded over the weekend in the wake of comments made on the live broadcast about her breath.
During Saturday’s live show, Barlow laid into Tulisa after she heavily criticised his song choice for contestant Christopher Maloney.
He said: “Tulisa, I don’t know what’s offended me more, what you’ve said or the *** ash breath.”
The pair has since kissed and made up, but the incident still had a huge impact on the way Twitter users discussed the hit show.
According to the data compiled by Hit Search Reputation Management software over the past two weeks, Gary Barlow enjoyed a much greater percentage of combined X Factor mentions on Twitter. Before the weekend his popularity range from 25% to as much as 49%; with Tulisa and fellow songstress Nicole Scherzinger vying for second place in the tweet stakes.
But following the incident Tulisa tweets blew up; and on Monday as many as 43% of mentions on the micro blogging site were dedicated to her.
From Tuesday 30 October, Gary Barlow looks to have reclaimed his spot as most tweeted about judge, but throughout the period on record one fact has remained fairly consistent and that is the lack of popularity enjoyed by longest serving judge Louis Walsh.
