Blink-182 have confirmed their departure from their record label but don't worry the band are very much still together and are even back in the studio working on a new album.
The band first announced that they have split from Interscope Records after releasing their latest album Neighborhoods back in 2011 but made the news official today (October 24).
''Freedom!! Blink as of today, is now an independent Artist!!!!!" Tom DeLonge tweeted.
Although Blink-182 are now officially unsigned they have not confirmed whether their next album will be released independently or through another label.
Mark Hoppus recently told NME that the band had started work on the follow-up to Neighborhoods: "We're starting to write the new record right now.
"We're going to tour Australia in February with Blink... [so the] proper tour and the new album probably won't happen for about a year."
Its a shame that all of the bands and singers that were mega popular back in the day have trouble finding success in todays industry... especially when the music is still good.
Good for them, they're so established now that they dont even need a label anymore they can easily find distribution elsewhere and can have the freedom to create exactly what they want. Congrats guys.
I hope they weren't dropped cuz of their album flopping, cuz if they were then Interscope needs to reevaluate their policies and contracts. I hope they venture in a different genre though. I'm kinda sick of their fast punk rock sound.
