Alice Cooper: 'Lady Gaga Needs To Keep It Real'
The God Of Metal Imparts His Wisdom!
Quote:
GaGa was said to be pleased to meet 'School's Out' rocker Cooper because he influenced her stage shows, but he revealed that he warned her against letting her stunts and on-stage persona become part of her everyday life.
"Last year, we met backstage and she was wonderful. She got down on her knees and did the whole ‘we’re not worthy’ bit from [the film] Wayne’s World."
Cooper - born Vincent Furnier - told Reader's Digest: "She said, 'Alice, thank you for letting me steal your show.'
"I said, 'GaGa, I created a character called Alice. But it's important to keep Alice on stage. I never let Alice take over my real life'.
"I guess what I was trying to say was, 'Be outrageous for the cameras.
Wear a chicken on your head. But don't get suckered into thinking that stuff is real.
When you're at home, just be yourself.
If you can learn to co-exist with both GaGas, you'll be okay'."
It's valid advice, but I don't think Gaga has a problem with this.
These larger than life characters exaggerate themselves for the stage, but obviously adapt appropriately when they aren't. Gaga's stage is just bigger and applies to everything in public. She isn't going to act the same performing as she does when having tea with her Grandma, but the same applies to the other pop girls and even some of us. Still the same person though.
Regardless, I'm not concerned for her. She has a strong family base (the lack of which seems to be a major factor in going off the rails) and a seemingly very down to earth boyfriend, so even if she's surrounded by yes men and eccentrics at work...there are still plenty of important people to her who will pull her back down to reality should her head get stuck in the clouds as "Lady Gaga".
