You may have heard of her after she was featured on Popjustice's "Ahoy!" group of new artists.
Here's that interview:
Quote:
Who are you and what is your business in the world of pop?
I’m Cinnamon Girl. Songstress and synth geek. I’d like to make people dance in sweaty night clubs. My favourite musical notes are C, E and A to make an A minor chord. It sounds like autumn and misery, and was the first chord I learned to play on the guitar when I was 12.
What is your best song and what is your worst song?
My current favourite is a song I just wrote called 'Devil In Me'. I wrote a song when I was 9 about the different parts of the body that was fairly awful. It was called ‘You Can Hear with Your Ears’.
What's the point?
Why not? I love making music and it’s more fun than working anywhere else.
Who, realistically, do you see yourself being as big as?
Optimus Prime. He’s pretty big.
Do you make music for yourself and if anyone else likes it that's a bonus?
No I’m not that self-indulgent. What’s the point in music if it isn’t made to be shared with other people? I’m sure whichever cave man first started banging on rocks to make a rhythm would have given up eventually, if none of his cave man mates had started joining in.
To be frank, this sort of music isn't usually my cup of tea, but I really like her -- she's currently unsigned, but with the way she keeps churning out brilliant pop tunes, I doubt that'll last much longer.
