With album sales being low, it seems like only certain artists can say they've passed the 1 million mark in the United States if you don't count shipping. Only select artists can pull it off. In 5-10 years will 500k be the new platinum?
That would be dumb. The first Country Album to go Platinium was "Wanted the Outlaws" in 1976. Country was huge in the 90's and 00's and many artists went Platinium. But when stores quit selling cd's, how is it even possible to sell a million now a days. I love the physical cd, not i-tune single.
It's sad that country radio only plays the same 10 people. Up to 2006 you could hear a lot of different artists.
