The Bible says nothing about things such ahs going to church on Sunday, crucifixes, purgatory and more-or-less says praying to saints is idol worship. The Protestants disliked this church and broke away from it so they could actually read the bible and see what they got from it.
Then many sects came:
William Miller and Ellen White started Seventh day adventism based on a mistake by Miller but then Ellen received a vision from God.
Mormonism came from this guy in like Wisconsin who says ridiclousness like "pigment of the skin is an Abomination onto the lord" and a bunch of other unproved claims.
