The format of the video had me expecting something completely different, which means the shock factor absolutely worked. I was ready for one of the most emotional ballads I'd heard since You & I, and got instead a mix of David Bowie, G.NA and IU...but then the actual video happened. There is going to be a LOT of discussion about sexuality, the role of women in k-pop, standards, what's okay to film, and I really REALLY hope all the discussion leads to things opening up for the better. The idea of the song being called "Bloom" with a video like that, to me, is about breaking out of the repression of true sexuality that both women and men in the k-pop industry and Korean culture face. THAT is going to be a big deal. I have gained so much respect for her label, directors, and Ga-In specifically for taking this risk.
