December is a dead period for single releases though. Everyone is too busy reflection on the past 11 months instead of trying to find new music. I'm sure Interscope has a lot of say in the decision, too. I think the first single should drop near the beginning of January, with the album out in February, around the time of the Grammy Awards.
The campaign seems identical to Born This Way. Gaga was touring with TMB and they waited until the tour was in NA to release the lead. The hype for ARTPOP has already started. If this era is about being immature and carefree, Gaga might as well say '**** it' and shock the hell out of us .
