Gaga has reached Madonna status
Quote:
While Madonna has been in the music game for longer than Lady Gaga has been alive—reinventing her image by essentially finding new ways to re-gift S&M– the masses are now flocking to the new Queen Diva on the scene in all her pantless glory. All hail Lady Gaga.
To Madonna’s dismay, Gaga has been tearing up everything from the music charts to fragrances, is continually shocking the world with her fabulous fashion antics, and is accumulating an insanely formidable and faithful mass of little monsters.
This article is not to discount the more than 300 million records Madonna has sold worldwide, the impact of her very being on everything pop culture, or the subsequent influences that have spurred the generations that follow, including, yes, Lady Gaga.
It is, however, an article that recognizes that times are a changing. The music industry isn’t what it once was, the fans aren’t what they once were, and Madonna, well, you get it.
But before I digress, let’s get to the gritty that will serve as proof of how a revolution is in the making.
Gaga is outperforming Madonna

No matter how you feel about the meat dress, the egg arrival, or the fury purple mane of a gown, you probably can’t say it’s something you’ve seen before.
The constant shock factor– whether you are a fan or not– is something that Lady Gaga provides that Madonna hasn’t. She’s not selling a trend, not something you can wear out on the town; she’s coming up with costumes that you couldn’t dream up, not even on a stomach full of Indian food.
Madonna’s stunts have started to become old and tired. The exhibitionist nipple stunt hasn’t only already been done (um, hello Janet Jackson, Super Bowl 2004) but it’s also involves a case of 54-year-old over-exposure, something generally not welcome in America let alone Muslim Istanbul. She continually makes “political statements,” only they aren’t seemingly directed at anything in particular other than pissing off various religious sects.
Madonna’s Girl Gone Wild is banned on YouTube (unless you are over 18) due to some heavy grinding and S&M undertones. Yes, again. Act shocked. *yawn*
Gaga’s acts border more on performance art than relying on the sex appeal of an S&M chic that has so long been the crutch of Madonna’s career. Her videos are like guerilla warfare of dress, dancing, and decadence. The vulgarity of it all is lost in the wonderment of what you just witnessed rather than watching an over-the-hill Diva grind her way through a bridge.
Gaga has legitimate musical ability

Lady Gaga took up piano at age four, had composed her first ballad less than a decade later, and earned early admission to NYU Tisch School of Arts by age 17. Before breaking through she wrote for the likes of Britney Spears, Fergie, and the Pussycat Dolls.
Madonna lacked most of the musical talents for which Gaga is known. Madonna has made her career out of being a chameleon, a master marketer, and savvy sense of staying on trend.
Gaga knows she has the ability to market herself and create, and recreate, her own image without redundancies.
But her real leg up is that she not only possess musical talent but that she has time on her side and it will continue to develop and mature. An artist at 26 is not who they will be at 36, 46, and so on.
If this is just the start of an evolution of Gaga’s musical prowess– already conceivably having reached Madonna status– it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds and how it will shape expectations and future generations.
Madonna is jealous of Gaga

If nothing else can convince you that Gaga is the new Queen of pop, then maybe Madonna’s reactive behaviors might lead you to believe otherwise. Let me ask you: If Madonna did not feel threatened by Gaga, then why would she lash out?
Madonna has taken many digs at Gaga in public, most of the cutting comments aimed at Gaga’s Born This Way song, calling it a “reductive” version of Madonna’s own single, Express Yourself.
Though I could understand an artist harboring resentment if they feel another artist has stolen their intellectual property, I find it hard to believe that this is the first time Madonna has heard a similar tune to her own or that she doesn’t understand that ideas come from inspiration and don’t just appear from fairy dust. I find the latter particularly hard to believe considering her own ’84 hit, Like A Virgin, has such a similar hook to Michael Jackson’s ’83 phenomenon, Billie Jean. I’m certain she’d have not appreciated Jackson doing a mashup and crying to the tabloids.
Get it straight, Madonna. You don’t want to inadvertently complement the woman.
Madonna knows there’s a newer, badder bitch in town, and she won’t give up her thrown without a fight. While it seems like she’s putting up a valiant effort, she won’t be able to hold on for much longer. Like I said off the top, it’s about time to welcome a new Queen: All hail Lady Gaga.

This article is ********. You say so in the article yourself that Madonna inspired Lady Gaga. Madonna inspired a generation and she STILL is inspiring popular artists today i.e. Rihanna, Katy Perry, P!nk and Lady Gaga. Madonna just added a fourth show to her huge MDNA tour – the tour will no doubt be the biggest tour of 2012. When Lady Gaga is selling our across the world 25 years from now – then we can talk about who is better.
