Alanis Morissette’s first album in four years, “Havoc And Bright Lights” (Universal), debuts at number one on the Top Albums chart with 6,000 copies sold. It is her second chart-topping album in the Nielsen SoundScan era and first since 2002’s “Under Rug Swept.” The first week sales total is the highest one week total for any album in the last seven weeks.

Still successful after over 20 years in music (including her Canadian teen pop past).

Music sales are suffering everywhere. Canada is no exception. Although it does seem to be doing worse than the US right now.

No. An artist can get weekly sales ranging from 50K and 75K. Well, Adele and Buble did, I don't know about the others.

The American Music Market is about 10X bigger than the Canadian one. You have to multiply Canada's sales by 10 to get a good idea. So 60K, a little under this week's #1.
