Lance Bass: "One Direction fans would accept the gay issue"
Quote:
One Direction fans wouldn’t care if one of the band members revealed he was gay — according to a gay former NSYNC star.
Lance Bass — who was in the band that launched Justin Timberlake — admitted he wouldn’t have dared to come out when he was in the top US boyband.
However, he claimed One Direction’s army of devoted fans would accept the news — if any of the rumours proved to be true.
“I actually think they would,” he said.
“The younger generation is way smarter than we were. They’re way more perceptive, and they just don’t care.”
He added: “Back then, there was no way in hell I would come out.”
Lance (33) came out four years after NSYNC split, in 2006, by appearing on the cover of People Magazine with the headline: “I’M GAY”.
One Direction, which features Mullingar hunk Niall Horan (18), has been constantly hit with gay rumours — despite their denials.
Teen idols Harry Styles (18) and Louis Tomlinson have been the subjects of the most rumours.
Louis (20) told MTV News: “This is a subject that was funny at first but now is actually hard to deal with.”
Last week, band member Zayn Malik (19) announced he was deactivating his Twitter account, with UK papers blaming fans who were tweeting his relationship with Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards was a fake.
But the band are not letting the rumours distract them from their music.
They have just revealed the name of their next album.
Louis let the cat out of the bag when he tweeted: “So pleased to tell you that our new album is called ‘take me home’.”
Lance, my generation.was smart too. I remember that special he had where be pit that fake blonde chick from his town and.tried.to put her.off as his.girlfriend...he.couldn't even look up when spewing his bs. Plus, my generation knows that there's a bi in the mix too. We didn't care though. Maybe the early 90s were different but in the late 90s ppl were more accepting.
