Huge blast at oil refinery kills 26
Quote:
A huge explosion at Venezuela's biggest oil refinery has killed at least 26 people
and halted production for two days, officials say.
At least 80 people were also injured in the blast
which started a fire at the Amuay plant in Falcon state in the north-west of the country.
State Governor Stella Lugo said nearby houses had been damaged by the blast. The fire is said to be under control.
The refinery, one of the biggest in the world, produces 645,000 barrels a day.
Ms Lugo said there was no risk of further explosions.
Among the dead is a boy of 10.

Many of the deceased were in their sleep cause they lived in a complex from the National Guard that was in the surrounding area. A very sad day for us

They're saying that but I'm not so sure about it. Or maybe because the refinery is so big they'll continue working in the places that were not affected. Oil exports are like air for Venezuela, we starve without it

Wow..
This is so sad.. After all years & years of oil production, you would think stricter precautions would be in place

More pictures:
I think there are more casualties than they have announced so far. It doesn't look like they've removed the debris yet.
