The father of TV star Jessica Simpson has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Joe Simpson was stopped by LAPD officers in the Sherman Oaks area on August 4, according to police sources.
Officers suspected he was intoxicated after he was pulled over at about 10pm, TMZ reported.
The 54-year-old, who acts as a manager for his famous daughters Jessica and Ashlee, was eventually cuffed and taken to a police station, where he spent the night.
According to TMZ, he was booked but was released the following day at 9.41am, without having to post bail.
It is unlikely Simpson will face a prison term if charges are filed against him, as it is his first offence.
He could instead be faced with a hefty fine. His case has yet to be sent to prosecutors at the City Attorney's Office in Los Angeles.
