Discussion: Katy Perry: Her Ray of light album?

Would the flawless Katy parry give as a Pop Masterpiece like Ray of light for her 3rd album? Would it be as dark and personal as she promised? Does she have it in her or is to early to tell?

It is too early to tell. I am expecting great things from Katy next era. I hope she doesn't sell out and not switch up her formula. Some may say, "Who wouldn't want all those number ones and sales?" but Katy has worked so hard to get where she is and I'm positive she can deliver quality, mature material.

But Ray of Light was Madonna's 7th album, more than a decade into her career.

With how huge her last era was I'm betting her label wants the hits and no extreme experimentation.

No offense, but only a select few of artists can give an album as artistic as Ray of Light. The only popular girls (I'm not counting underground since I don't know much about them, hence they're underground) that have albums that can rival RoL are Bjork (Homogenic and Vespertine) and Kate Bush (Hounds of Love and The Dreaming). I don't see any pop gurl making an album like that, well maybe Gaga if Artpop is as pompous as it sounds

I agree, it won't be much of a risk. Maybe a little risky single choices. Won't stop it from having great quality though.

This. And like ALA said, Ray of Light was Madonna's 7th album, 10 years into her career. Additionally, ROL was primarily inspired by the birth of her first child and her revelations of faith.

Katy may give us a decent album, but she's not giving us a classic like Ray of Light anytime soon.
