Marina: "It annoys me when I'm compared to Gaga and Lana"

Marina And The Diamonds' Marina Diamandis has said that she finds it "really annoying" when she is compared to the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Lana Del Rey.
The singer, who released her second album 'Electra Heart' earlier this year, told The Sun that she could name at "least 30 artists" that she had been compared to and that she "can't wait for a time I can just be classed as myself".
Asked if she minded being compared to other artists, Diamandis said: "I would be totally lying if I said it didn’t. It really annoys me. I feel like it's more an extreme case for me than other artists. When you're unknown you get it as it helps people to understand what you sound like. I could draw up a list of about 30 artists who I apparently sound like."
She continued: "From Lady Gaga, to Katy Perry to Lana Del Rey. I don't know if it's because I'm versatile or because production affects how people judge music. I can't wait for a time I can just be classed as myself."
The singer also spoke about her aims for the sound of 'Electra Heart' and said that she had hoped to become a "goth Britney Spears" on her second LP.
Asked about the transition from her debut album 'The Family Jewels' to 'Electra Heart', the singer said: "I didn't feel a need to change but it's a lot more electronic. The blueprint was a goth Britney Spears. I wanted to make a dark bubblegum pop album. The first song I wrote was called 'Living Dead' and the rest is a steady progression from there. The direction you go in isn’t really calculated, it just happens — it's still pop."
Saying she hates comparisons and then compares her sound to goth Britney Spears
She's already said she hates comparisons to GaGa, cause she's more inspired by Britney anyway..so it's no surprising she would compare herself to Britney. Britney is the one whose influenced her the most and she has no problem admitting that.
It's true though she gets compared to gaga to Lana to Katy even Florence. It's kind of annoying and honestly she has her own style both lyrically and vocally
