So...which do you prefer? Would you rather have an artist have quality music but have low sales and income, or would you rather them have platinum certifications on everything they released and mega-sales but terrible quality music? You can only pick one or the other...let's see what you guys think.

At the end of the day, I am the consumer and I am hear for the music. Their success does not affect me at all, but I will lose if I get material of less quality for the sake of their widespread success.

Tbh I don't really care about commercial success as long as the music is good.

I rather have an artist that releases every 2 - 3 years and it's great. than an artist that releases music every year.

Quality, that's one of the reasons I stan for Adele & Florence.

I say that because because if you can make great music, be able to do it time and time again,and just happen to also sell a nice amount of albums, then I'm here for you. Sales is the least important, though.

You sure can, but in a different way. Bjork, for example, is quality. She has extremely high critical acclaim and I love her, although she's been here since the 90s and only sold 15 million albums with over 7 releases. She's successful critically but not commercially.

The artists that are remembered for years to come, Madonna, the Beatles, Michael Jackson, all had quantity (and quality) but you can't get on those lists without quantity. You could without quality (Shakira selling 70 million albums, but then again that's completely subjective). That's why I'd rather have quantity.

Or just have a different opinion

Let's stop sugarcoating this thread. Quality is needed imo then quantity because you don't want your faves dropped from their label because of low sales/interest. /thread
