Leona Lewis on the delay of 'Glassheart'
Leona Lewis explains new album 'Glassheart' delay
Quote:
Leona Lewis has explained her reasons for delaying her new album.
The singer was originally due to release her third studio album Glassheart last November, before it got pushed back to March and is now expected later in the year.
However, Lewis revealed that she has taken her time with the collection so she can create the best material possible, and has teamed up with Adele songwriter Fraser T Smith.
"Fraser is a great songwriter, great musician and such a cool person to be around and vibe with. When you're in the studio with someone for that long you really have to get along with them," Lewis told the Daily Star.
"We did the EP together last year and I wanted to keep working with him, so we decided to do the whole album.
"I'm doing it old-school and feeling it out, and making sure I'm getting the best songs. I keep going back in trying to make the songs better, more spectacular and up my game each time."
She added: "This album is going to be more open because I've got to work with people I've bonded with.
"It's such a nice way to make an album as I've never done that before. People will hear a whole new side of me.
"It's really refreshing for me to have so much control and Fraser has given me a lot of power in what I'm doing so it's been different."

I hope it is good, maybe they can try to pull an Adele-style single success if they play it right.

I Don't buy this explaination, if the whole controversy with Collide didn't happened, we would have had "Glassheart" last year, the material probably wasn't 100% what her label wanted, so the Collide controversy was the perfect way for her label to take control, and after that they probably pushed her to a certain degree to a certain direction and to certain producers, I bet the album will still be good, but we also know that some songs have been given back or away and that maybe even an other portion is also scrapped, and that is sad, since I hate it if an album, which is meant to be a piece of art or body of work, being reworked and end up in a complete other album!

I'm just hoping the material makes up for it being delayed for so long

Syco always took control of her. She said she has full control though.

I know, but it seems they gave her the benefit of the doubt with the original Glassheart material and the Collide Controversy gave them the perfect thing to put the project 100% on their hands again, if her label really had control over the original Glassheart as album, they would have tried an other single and used the XFactor performance slot to promote that and not a cover EP. They put the plug out of it a bit too soon, if you ask me. It's not like her music is not commercial and it's also not like Collide flopped, it hit #4, that is better than nothing, a 2nd single along with the XFactor performance and Royal Variety and some other additional promo could have lifted a 2nd single to #1!

Either way it seems as if she's really proud of the record so.

It's not that I am not anticipating this record, it's just that I dislike if an album gets wrapped into pieces, without getting all tracks eventually, which will probably the case of this.
An other a bit different situation was Bionic by Christina, the original direction got majorly pushed to the deluxe and some tracks were scrapped, the final album ended up like a meltingpot, which took the core of what the album was meant to be, I still would love to know to this day what the original tracklist would have been and which tracks of that supposed tracklist would have been the original album.
I am glad that Leona is happy and proud with the revised version of this record and like I said earlier, I will probably enjoy it anyways, just the things I said bother me

Wait, can you fill me in on the 'controversy' surrounding Collide? I'm clearly not upto date on this.
Anyway, if the album is delayed then I'm fine with it as long as the end product is good.
