We haven't seen the last of Chucky. Not by a long shot. Sure, there's that long-mooted Child's Play remake that we hear about from time to time. But that's apparently all occuring within the halls of MGM.
Meanwhile, Universal - the studio that gave us Child's Play 2 through Seed of Chucky - is going to keep the piece of the franchise it has going with Curse of Chucky, reportedly filming this September.
Moviehole says Don Mancini, series creator and writer, will be at the helm of this next installment for Universal Home Entertainment. Mancini last directed Seed of Chucky.
The site says this direct-to-DVD entry has "Chucky arrive to wreck havoc within a family that’s regrouped for a funeral. In the wake of her mother’s passing, a young woman – in a wheelchair since birth – is forced to put up with her sister, brother-in-law, niece and their nanny as they say their goodbyes to mother. When people start turning up dead, the fearless Nica discovers the culprit might be a “strange doll” she was sent a couple of days earlier."

She won't have to put up with them for too long from the sounds of it. Thanks, Chucky!
Makes sense. If y'all would read, the remake of Child's Play is being handled by MGM (which is the one that has been hyped as regaining the horror aspects of the film.) This follows the series by Universal. So it'll tide me over.
