R. Kelly: "The Notebook inspired me to divorce my wife"

R Kelly has revealed in a new memoir that watching Ryan Gosling's romantic film The Notebook prompted him to divorce his wife.
The R&B singer left his wife Andrea Kelly in 2009 after 12 years of marriage. The pair had met in the mid-'90s, when Andrea was a back-up dancer during the singer's world tour.
TMZ reports that in his new memoir Soulacoaster, the 'I Believe I Can Fly' performer explains how the Nicholas Sparks adaptation made him realise that his own romance couldn't compare to the one depicted by Gosling and co-star Rachel McAdams.
He writes: "As the film credits started to roll, I couldn't move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. The Notebook was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together.
"But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine's Day - when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses - that had come and gone... My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back."
Andrea Kelly currently stars on the new VH1 reality show Hollywood Exes.
