"Payphone" tops Billboard's Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs
Quote:
Maroon 5 rings up its fourth No. 1 on Billboard’s Nielsen BDS-based Mainstream Top 40 chart and its fifth leader on Adult Top 40 with “Payphone.”
Maroon 5 makes it back-to-back toppers on Mainstream Top 40, as its last entry, “Moves Like Jagger,” featuring Christina Aguilera, reigned for six weeks beginning in October. The group had likewise led consecutively with its first two No. 1s, “This Love” (three weeks) and “She Will Be Loved” (four) in 2004.
Wiz Khalifa, featured on the pop edit of “Payphone,” scores his first Mainstream Top 40 No. 1.
On Adult Top 40, Maroon 5 --- whose No. 1 ledger on the list includes its four Mainstream Top 40 leaders plus 2010's "Misery" --- ties Nickelback for the most commanding titles among groups in the chart's 16-year history. Katy Perry leads all acts with six Adult Top 40 No. 1s (P!nk also has five.)
Maroon 5’s fourth studio album, Overexposed, looks likely to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 this week, trailing only Linkin Park’s Living Things, the chart’s expected new leader.
