To be fair, he did this on UK soil but under US jurisdiction because the website was a .net domain. The domains .com .net and .org are administered by American companies, which makes those domains subject to US jurisdiction. If he'd ran this site from something other than those domains, then he'd have no issue.

I still think it's ridiculous though.

Stop acting like the US is dictating terms here. A UK Judge said he could be extradited and the UK Home Secretary approved it. This is all been done via The Extradition Act in the UK. America has extradited its citizens too, without them actually physically being in the country.

And death at people generalizing the whole US government because of this. Courts in every country do "stupid" things like this. Let me not even get into when the UK wouldn't extradite an American citizen who raped a bunch of kids in America.

Getting 10 years for copyright infringement is way too much. What's the time for murder? Or drug possession? If they want to put some a high year on it they need to justify it or lower the penalty.

I love the US and am from here, but these power hungry and greedy officials need to be on a leash.
