I honestly have no idea. Like, I don't see why people say that. I know some very interesting characters who would try some **** like that though . But like...was your uncle born straight? No, he was like that from the beginning. It's not like I woke up one morning on my 16th birthday and said "I want a boyfriend" and maybe ten years from now decide "I want a girlfriend". It doesn't work like that. It all comes down to who you are attracted to. That's all there is. Everybody has different preferences...the world would be boring if we all liked the same thing. And another thing, maybe your uncle just doesn't understand. You can't choose what gender your attracted to...and its not a phase. If your gay and you know your gay, what kind of sense would it make to force yourself to be attracted to a girl? You shouldn't have to force yourself to love someone, cause if you have to, then it isn't real in my book. It should come naturally. He may just not understand....that's all.

Some ignorant human beings (no offense to your uncle) believe that sexuality is a choice and that one day you choose to like penis and then the next day you can magically change your mind and like vagina. It makes absolutely no sense to me and I feel that you should ask him "Did you CHOOSE to be straight or was it a natural process?". It will get him thinking and he will realize that his attraction to women was natural and that your attraction to men is just as natural and is not something that you can grow out of, just like he can't grow of being straight. It bothers me that people can think that sexuality is a choice, it's not.

I don't understand how people can believe being gay is a choice. Who the **** would choose to live a life of being bullied and looked down on by so many people?

God. I live in Utah (the morman capitol of the world) and the majority of my family is WAY religious and think all of this ****. And the other part of my family just spits all over gay people like its a horrible thing. That's why I'm not out yet. The only people that would accept me are my sister and mom. I seriously just want to ask them if they choose to be straight.

No. You do not choose who you are attracted to. You need to explain your uncle that he has to understand that its something natural and not chosen.

He could have meant that you chose to come out, since I do think some people like to remain in the dark and assume their kid is straight -_- That being said, I do not believe you can choose to be attracted to someone. I mean, so many relationships would be saved if you can just say "choose to be attracted to me now!"
