Fox International’s follow-up to the behemoth that was Ice Age 3 has kicked off in fine style heading into the opening weekend as it scored the biggest opening day in France for the year-to-date on an estimated $2.9m and 402,000 admissions. There were auspicious debuts too in Australia and Sweden.

In Australia the film’s opening day is expected to register around $950,000 for approximately 110% against the opening day performance of Ice Age 3, rising to $2.3m including previews since Sunday (24).
The $543,000 Swedish debut (local currency 3.9m) claimed roughly 70% market share and generated 131% of its predecessor’s opening day. Australia and Sweden are on school holidays while France is not.
