Typically poor vocal from her. She wimps out of so many of the tough notes from the studio version.

..but has Gaga ever sang the high notes in Paparazzi like the studio version?

Uh...yes? GaGa's live vocals are fantastic, especially when she just stands and sings.

Anyway, this is about Mariah, not GaGa. I loved Mariah back in the day, but her vocals aren't a patch on how they used to be. This supposedly amazing performance is further proof of that.

I see what you're saying. She's never going to sing it exactly like she did in 1993. That voice is gone.

BUT.

This is legitimately her best performance of Hero in at least fifteen years.

I never really cared for Hero but a good performance, is a good performance.

This is so depressing. She doesn't smoke, she doesn't really drink--but her voice has seriously deteriorated. How did that happen? Celine has gotten older too but she still sounds amazing.

The glory note at the end sounds great though.

Oh my god, this is the best Mariah has sounded in forever!
