Is Katy Perry the new Lady GaGa?
In 2009-2010, not a single female artist could go a day without being compared to Lady Gaga. Her style, music, and impact had captivated the world, and every girl seemed like they wanted a piece of her attention. Fast forward to 2011-212 and we have new 'pop' artist such as Rita Ora, Marina & The Diamonds, Jessie J, and supposedly Nicki Minaj being compared to Katy Perry.
Rita Ora
Quote:
The U.S. pop market welcomes a new leading lady this week, UK singer, actress and model Rita Ora, who is signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation and Columbia Records. Ora's video for "How We Do (Party)" is a playful ode to tearing up the town with the energy of a Katy Perry anthem.

The sugary sweet pop record kind of reminds us a bit of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream".

Marina & The Diamonds
Quote:
Her drop-top backbeats and voluptuous vocals snagged the glamazon opening spots on both Katy Perry and Coldplay‘s summer tours, and now her latest single, “Primadonna”, has caught the attention of another high-wattage musical outfit.

I have to admit; I had never heard of Marina and The Diamonds before I heard ‘Primadonna‘ air on the radio last week and I honestly thought it was a new single by Katy Perry.

Jessie J
Quote:
Good news for Jessie: Dr. Luke delivered. "Domino," which reportedly will be Jessie J's next single, is straight Katy Perry magic: the plucky guitar riff, cheerful "let's bone" lyrics, a soaring chorus, and plenty of room for Jessie to wail on the high notes. It's so KP, actually, that we wonder why Perry didn't include it on Teenage Dream.

British pop star (who brought us the ever-so-catchy “Price Tag”) has a new single coming out this month… and some might think it sounds suspiciously like it could be a Katy Perry hit single…

Jessie J is getting ready to hit the US again with her brand new single Domino. I actually like it, but don’t worry. I haven’t lost my marbles. This is because it isn’t a Jessie J song. It is a Katy Perry track. Its everything Teenage Dream stands for.

Nicki Minaj
Quote:
Most of the first third of the album is straight-up hip-hop - usually vulgar, often clever, mostly discordant and hardly dull. Then it suddenly transitions for most of its last two-thirds into a personality-drained pop-dance album in which Minaj seems possessed by the evil spirit of Katy Perry.

“The only thing that’s pop is my endorsement op,” Minaj rasps, although the song is, paradoxically, the gateway track to the album’s pop-on-steroids second half. The next seven or eight tracks are a multi-car pileup of ridiculously great, immediately forgettable hooks. The garish “Starships” is a bubble-gum Top 40 striver that makes “Super Bass” sound like a song by Tyler, the Creator. It makes matters painfully clear: Minaj’s competition is no longer the ’90s ghost of Lil’ Kim. It’s Katy Perry.

Is Katy Perry 'musically' the new girl to be compared to? Has she taken Gaga's place as the standard?
This is not a troll thread, I just want to know your opinion.
