Known by his stage name Mac Miller (previously EZ Mac), is an American rapper from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is signed to Rostrum Records and released his debut album Blue Slide Park on November 8, 2011.
Bio
Born Malcolm McCormick on January 19, 1992, is a 20 year old rapper from Pittsburgh, PA. He is the youngest of two sons and grew up in Point Breeze. Mac played football, lacrosse, and basketball. He also used to play the drums, guitar, bass, and piano. Mac, Jimmy, and TreeJay all started smoking weed in the 5th grade, and have been best friends ever since. Mac transferred to the same Catholic school as Jimmy and TreeJay because he wanted to be with his hommies. Mac went on to a private highschool for his first two years, and eventually went to Taylor Allderdice High where he graduated from in 2010.
Mac began freestyling at a young age, while him and all the hommies would get high in their friends attic. His friends convinced him to start recording because he was that good. At 15, Mac formed the group “The Ill Spoken” with fellow Pittsburgh emcee Beedie. The duo released the mixtape “How High.” Mac released his first solo mixtape entitled “But My Mackin Aint Easy” and sold it within his highschool. His first DJ-sponsored mixtape, “The Jukebox” was released in 2009. His second mixtape, “The Highlife” was released early in 2010. Mac gained much respect through those mixtapes and was eventually signed with Rostrum Records in the summer of 2010. His third mixtape, released under Rostrum Records, “KIDS” (Kicking Incredibly Dope ****) was released in August 2010. KIDS was notably Mac’s most successful mixtape, gaining him thousands of fans and media buzz.
Now with countless solo performances under his belt (including sharing the stage with the likes of Young Jeezy, DJ Unk, Big Sean, Boaz and Wiz Khalifa) Mac Miller is stepping out on his own as a solo artist. His solo efforts focus on creating progressive music for the hip hop genre and though Mac has a penchant for the ladies (that tends to spill into his music) he still touches on a variety of topics by combining raw lyrical skill with creative song writing and modern production. Right now, Mac is carving out his own lane within the industry, with two missions: making his supporters proud and becoming one of music’s most sought-out talents. is the youngest of 7 kids, and has known Mac since they were little kids, growing up together in Point Breeze. Jimmy played football, lacrosse, and basketball. Jimmy and TreeJay went to the same Catholic school, where they got super cool and smoked hella weed. When highschool came, Jimmy transferred to the same highshcool Mac went to before Allderdice, where they won the lacrosse championship together. became friends with all the hommies in highschool. also known as Bill the Kid, grew up on the East Coast, but moved to Point Breeze in 2004. Bill was the older homie who hooked up the weed for awhile. He used to rap with Mac, back when he was Ez Mac. Bill & Mac became best friends for a while, and spent a whole summer chillin / writing / putting in work, until Mac started to buzz. Bill got more interested in the business side of things, and decided to pick up a camera and started documenting everything. was born and raised in the Eastside of PGH and has been a hip-hop fanatic since he was a little kid. He went to Indiana University for college, but left to join Mac on tour. He started managing Mac when Mac was 15, and formed a collective of PGH rappers called East End Empires (including Mac, Beedie, Francise, Vinny Radio, The Scholars, and Tip Tha Ill-Spit). Career
Before embarking on a solo career, Miller was part of rap group The Ill Spoken together with fellow Pittsburgh rapper, Beedie. The Ill Spoken released the mixtape How High in 2008. Prior to changing his name to Mac Miller, he was known as EZ Mac and released the mixtape But My Mackin Ain't Easy in 2007 at 15 years old. In 2009 Mac Miller released two mixtapes The Jukebox: Prelude to Class Clown and The High Life before getting signed to Rostrum Records.
In early 2010, Miller signed with Rostrum Records. Rostrum president Benjy Grinberg met Miller while recording with Wiz Khalifa at ID Labs. Although Grinberg started giving Miller advice, he didn't show any interest in getting involved with his career until the artist began work on the K.I.D.S. mixtape, when, as he later told HitQuarters, Grinberg "noticed a maturation in his sound and approach to his music." By that point Miller had started attracting interest from different record companies but chose Rostrum due to its location in his hometown and association with Wiz Khalifia.
K.I.D.S. Mixtape
K.I.D.S. was released by the label in August 2010. The mixtape was inspired by the movie Kids. A significant breakthrough came in late 2010 when Miller embarked on his first "Incredibly Dope Tour", selling out at every location on the tour. On November 22, 2010 his first single "Knock Knock" premiered its video on YouTube.
Best Day Ever Mixtape
Miller's 5th release was a mixtape titled Best Day Ever. It features his single "Donald Trump" and the hit songs "Wear My Hat", "BDE Bonus" and "All Around The World." The mixtape featured mainstream producers such as Just Blaze, 9th Wonder, and Chuck Inglish.
On and On and Beyond EP
On March 29, 2011, he released an EP called On And On And Beyond. The six-track work was produced by Rostrum Records.
Blue Slide Park LP
On July 5, 2011, Miller announced the title of his first album Blue Slide Park on his YouTube channel, set for a Fall release. Prior to his 2011 national Blue Slide Park tour, Miller traveled Europe on his "Incredibly Dope Tour" visiting cities such as London, Manchester, and Amsterdam. On October 14, 2011, Mac Miller released a 13 song mixtape called I Love Life, Thank You for reaching 1,000,000 followers on Twitter. It had features from Sir Michael Rocks of The Cool Kids, Talib Kweli, and Bun B. On November 2011, Blue Slide Park debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 144,000 copies.
Macadelic Mixtape
On March 23, 2012, Mac Miller released his seventh mixtape called Macadelic. He released "Loud" as a single off the mixtape as well as filiming a music video. Miller also released a video for "Thoughts From A Balcony" and "Clarity".
Pink Slime EP
In May of 2012, Mac Miller announced that he would be releasing a collaboration EP titled Pink Slime, however, he did not tell who he was collaboration with.[15] Later on it was revealed that Miller was collaborating with Pharrell when they released the song "Onaroll" performed by Mac Miller and produced by Pharrell.
Movies With the Sound Off LP
On October 14, Miller announced first on Ustream and later on Twitter that Pink Slime would be released before the end of the year and that his second album, which will be titled Watching Movies with the Sound Off, will be released in early 2013. The album will feature guests such as Schoolboy Q (three times), Ab-Soul, Cam'ron, Earl Sweatshirt and Gucci Mane.

In 2009 at age 17, he made it to the final four in Rhyme Calisthenics, the MC competition at Shadow Lounge. In 2010, he won two awards at the Pittsburgh hip-hop awards. His video "Live Free" won video of the year and he also won Best Artist Under 21. In September 2011, Maroon 5 announced that Mac Miller will be featured on their remix of their top chart song "Moves Like Jagger". In 2011 Miller was one of eleven rappers featured in XXL magazine's Freshman Class of 2011. The video for the first single released from this mixtape, "Donald Trump", has reached over 71 million views on YouTube and Donald Trump himself, who is referenced on the song, acknowledged the video on the social networking site Twitter when it reached 20 million views stating "Who wouldn't be flattered?". He declared that Miller was the “new Eminem,” and stated “I am very proud of him.” Endorsements by Donald Trump helped Miller become increasingly more popular. The song also charted on iTunes debuting at #73 and peaking at #40, before Miller was signed to a major label. In 2011, his first TV appearance took place in the VH1 show Single Ladies; he played a fictionalized version of himself that succeeded in selling one of his mixtapes to one of the main characters. Also in 2011, he was a part of MTV Jams Fab Five artists.
