Manhattan judge, Justice Charles Ramos has approved the a $100 million lawsuit against Beyonce by video game developer Gate Five. The New York Post reports that Beyonce backed out of her $20 Million contract for a dance game entitled ‘Starpower: Beyonce’.
Apparently, Beyonce’s lawyers gave her the ok to back out of the deal due to the company lacking the financing it would take to move forward with the project, but Gate Five claims that Beyonce knew they were signing a contract with a financier on December 6th 2010, yet she pulled out three days earlier.
Due to Beyonce’s pullout, the company had to lay off over 70 employees as the game was shelved. In a decision filed Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court, Justice Charles Ramos said that it is clear to him now that the singer’s position was “meritless” when she asked him to dismiss the suit.
